The first few days of healing
are the most important to your new tattoo. Follow these steps to insure
proper healing.
Keep in mind that once it's on your body it's your responsibility. Never touch a fresh or healing tattoo with your hands without washing them with anti-bacterial soap. Avoid exposing your new tattoo to sunlight for at least 1 month. If you must expose your tattoo to sunlight use at least a 35 SPF sun block, but only after it's completely healed. Remove the dressing and clean thoroughly with warm water and soap. Rinse completely and pat dry with a clean towel. Apply a very thin layer of ointment, recommended by your artist, 3 to 4 times daily for 5 to 7 days or until the tattoo is healed. Wash the tattoo at least twice daily with warm water and soap. Wear clean, loose clothing. Do not re-dress your tattoo. Do not scratch the tattoo! Do not pick at scabs! Do not remove the dressing for at least 2 hours. No swimming or soaking in the bathtub until the tattoo is completely healed.
Your tattoo may appear dry and dull
after it heals, do not worry, apply a non-allergenic lotion. |
